In July 2016, the Hope for Kasai team returned to Mpiana Ntita for their annual mission visit. The first thing that struck them was how much had changed since their last trip — and how much the community remembered them.
Children who had been toddlers were now in school. The maternity center was operating. The water project was underway. The physical changes were visible. But what struck the team most was the emotional dimension: the trust that had been built, the relationships that had deepened, the sense that this was a real partnership — not a one-time intervention.
This first post from the 2016 visit documents the arrival, the reunions, and the initial assessment of where things stood. It was the beginning of a week that would remind everyone why this work is worth doing — and why coming back, again and again, is the only way to build something that truly lasts.
