In May 2013, a group of volunteers gathered in Miami with a simple but powerful goal: to sew dresses for the girls of Kasai. By the end of the event, 178 dresses had been made — each one carefully crafted, each one destined for a little girl in Mpiana Ntita who had very little.
The dresses were sewn using the pillowcase style — a simple, durable design that's easy to make and built to last. Participants ranged from experienced seamstresses to first-time sewers, united by a shared desire to do something meaningful.
These dresses would be hand-delivered on the next mission trip to Kasai. For the girls who received them, it wasn't just clothing — it was a reminder that someone, somewhere, had thought of them and cared enough to make something just for them.
